Benrus Blue Enamel Bezel Engraved White Gold Art Deco Watch, Restored,
c.1930

Very cool art deco Benrus in white gold from c.1930. Large
reinforced 14k white gold tank style case with fancy engraved
corner lugs with black enamel applied for contrast and a blue
enamel bezel with white gold numerals. This watch was Benrus'
answer to the Bulova Lone Eagle which commemorated Charles Lindburgh,
but with the blue enamel bezel. The case is considered by most
collectors as solid gold even though it is "supported by
metal" which simply means it's mostly gold, as in not plated
or filled. One or two flea bites in the blue enamel are not
noticed without magnification. The hinged snap back case is
in good condition with some tool marks from opening the back
over the years but still in good condition and very serviceable.
28mm x 36mm with 17mm spring bar lugs. The Silvered dial has
been carefully restored and looks like new as do the blued steel
hands set. Inside is the original Benrus 15 jewel movement that
is running strong and keeping good time. Fitted with a new Hirsch
black lizzard grain strap.
