c.1946 |
 |
This is an all-original, solid gold 100% Rolex
first-year production Tudor with the original Rolex caliber 59 manual
movement and NOT the later ETA movement. During W.W. II Rolex saw a
market for Rolex quality watches but at a more modest price. Hans
Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex, responded in 1946 with the first models
of the Tudor line of Rolex watches. The earliest Tudor's used in-house
Rolex movements and the next year, in 1947, they started using ETA
ebauche's which were built to Rolex specifications and finished, timed
and cased at the Rolex factory.
Factory original white dial with solid gold applied
numerals and batons and signed Tudor and Shock Protected
with small rose-in-shield logo is clean and beautiful. Solid gold hands
with sweep seconds. Solid 9 karat gold Rolex Tudor signed snap back case
is superb with no scratches, personalization or damage. Full sized at
34mm x 41mm with 17mm between the lugs. Inside is a spectacular Rolex
factory original in-house caliber 59 manual wind 17 jewel Swiss movement
that is as crisp and clean as the day it left the factory in 1946.
Recently serviced and keeping excellent time. Fitted with a new, very
high quality brown German made Di-Modell genuine Teju lizard strap. This
is an all factory-original authentic and very collectable Rolex at a
fraction of the cost of the same watch with the Rolex name
printed on the dial. |

Gallet Rare
Regulator Dial Decimal Chronograph, All Original, 15j, c.1935 |
 |
Early and rare, this Gallet two button chronograph
has the very collectable regulator dial and an early 15 jewel movement
and was a special purpose chronograph. The large sweep hand in the
center of the factory original silvered dial is on a 1/100 minute
register, with 30 minute elapsed time sub dial at 6:00 and real-time
dial at 12:00. This was a specialty chronograph and useful for
scientific and industrial applications to measure events to the fraction
of a MINUTE, so an event may take say, 2.75 minutes instead of the
customary 2 minutes 45 seconds. 34mm stainless steel snap back
case signed by Gallet with original oval pushers and crown, all in
excellent condition with no damage or personalization and only light use
showing. Inside beats a Gallet 15 jewel movement that is running
properly with all functions working as they should and keeping good
time. New black croc grain leather strap. |
