Hamilton Piping Rock in Solid 14k White Gold with Enamel Inlaid
Bezel, Completely Factory Original, Near Mint, c.1929 |
|
New Listing!

 |
This Hamilton Piping Rock is one of the most desired
and collectable of vintage watches and a very special item. This
exceptional example is 100% factory original right down to the original
crystal and in spectacular condition, inside and out. We have never seen
a finer one. Superb solid 14 karat white gold hinged lug case with black
enamel inlaid chapter ring bezel that shows no cracks or chips. Hinged
lugs are in superb snug condition with no damage or stretch. The hinges
are almost always found with damage and excessive stretch and are almost
impossible to repair but these are snug and just superb. This watch was
produced first in 1928 for just 3 years and re-issued with some changes
after WW2 and is again offered by Hamilton today in a gold filled
version with a quartz movement. This is the original first model made in
it's second year of production. Factory original dial is clean and
unmolested and shows the yellowing of age that you want to see in a
factory original dial. The vast majority of Piping Rock's you will see
have had their dials either re-painted or replaced over the years.
Original blued steel hands are bright and clean, Original solid gold
crown. Even the crystal is the factory original and is clean and
presentable though it has yellowed slightly over time and shows a little
very light crazing at 11:00. The Piping Rock came in solid yellow gold
or solid white gold with the white gold model being more desirable to
collectors. The case measures 28mm x 43mm. Outside case back engraved
with 1930 dedication to Michigan Chapter of AHEPA (a Greek fraternal
organization, still active.) Inside is the factory original movement
signed Hamilton watch Co 19J Adjusted 979-F which is crisp and clean
and keeping remarkably good time. The Piping Rock had male lug pins and
used a special female spring bar which are in tact and fitted with a new
black padded leather 16mm strap. This rare Hamilton Piping Rock will
sell at a premium due to its remarkable all original near mint condition
and will be the pride of any fine collection as well as a very solid
investment. |

Bucherer
Large 65 Jewels Solid 18 karat Yellow Gold Automatic with Date,
Extra-Fine Condition, c.1969 |
|
New Listing!

 |
This is a very special solid 18 karat yellow gold
automatic with an unprecedented 65 ruby jeweled movement from
Bucherer, a highly respected Swiss maker and dating to the late
1960's. During this era, many high-end Swiss makers were vying for the
prestige of making the most highly jeweled mechanical movement. At
65 jewels, this movement has more than twice the number of rubies
required to minimize friction and wear in all places needed for maximum
performance. The rest of the rubies are not really necessary at all and
many are placed solely for the purpose of holding the bragging rights to
the most highly jeweled movement and have no practical function, really.
Bucherer later lost those bragging rights to several other makers who
put up to 100 jewels in their movements but still, this is a very unique
and totally remarkable watch. Movement is bright and clean and keeping
good time. This extraordinary movement is housed in a large 36.5mm x 44
mm 18 karat solid yellow gold case which is lightly used and still in
beautiful extra fine condition with no scratches, dings or damage.
Original solid gold crown but the stem has been very slightly hit and
you can feel it when the watch is wound or set but it is not a problem
and does not interfere with the proper use or operation of this fine
watch. The factory original yellow gold dial with gold applied batons
and date window at 3:00 is signed with the company logo and "Bucherer,
65 Jewels, Swiss Made." The dial shows a minor ding near 3:00 from a
previous service which is only visible under magnification, and some
light dust particles. Original solid gold hands set with sweep seconds.
Original crystal with one or two very light scratches near the edge
which are not really noticeable and could easily be polished out if
desired. Overall a very beautiful and remarkable dress watch. Fitted
with a new black genuine crocodile 18mm strap. |

Large Cigarette Lighter-Watch with Art Deco Tortoise-Shell Enamel Case
from Post-War Japan, All Working Extra-Fine Cond. c.1947 |
|
New Listing!
 |
Here's a very cool collectable watch that snaps into
a large sized cigarette lighter with art deco engraving and
tortoise-shell enamel front and back. Lighter measures 43mm x 55mm and
the the removable mechanical wind watch measures about 28mm in diameter.
The lighter works as does the watch and everything is in near mint
condition and the only cosmetic issues are a couple of very small chips
to the enamel on the back. I doubt if the lighter has ever been filled
or used as the wick is unburned. The watch winds without removal from
the lighter and is running fine and keeps reasonable time. Made in Japan
just after the end of WW2. A very cool and handsome addition to any nice
lighter or watch collection. |

 |
Very cool and one of the earliest waterproof
rectangular or tank shaped cases we've seen. The movement sits in a
solid block of stainless steel which is inserted up into the stainless
steel case and seals against the crystal with two screws from the back.
From the looks of the clean factory original dial and the crisp clean
original Kelbert movement inside, it was a sound design. Nice big 28mm x
36mm tank all stainless steel case is is superb condition with no
scratches or damage. Factory original dial in a pale honey tone with
gold leaf trim and Roman numerals at 3, 6, 9 and 12 with the original

match between the dial and minutes hand but for some reason the hour
hand fill has yellowed over time. The dial is signed Kelbert Waterproof
Antimagnetic Shockabsorber. Original crystal is clean and clear. Kelbert
signed 17 jewel manual wind movement is clean and corrosion free and is
keeping good time. This is a very high quality military watch and we

Elgin Men's
Engraved and Enameled Deco Nickel Cushion Case, 7j, Fine Original
Condition, c.1933 |
|
New Listing!
 |
Elgin big 32mm x 37mm cushion case from the Great
Depression years. The solid nickel case has chased art deco bezel and
sides with black enamel to highlight the engraving. The case shows
moderate wear with no real damage and it's still very striking and
presentable. The Elgin signed factory original dial with gold applied
numerals and sunken sub seconds at 6:00 does show some age with a
great antique look and feel. Original glass crystal is scratch free.
Original onion style crown and original blued steel hands that are clean
and corrosion free. Inside is the original Elgin grade 485, 7 jewel
mechanical movement that is clean and corrosion free, recently serviced,
winding and setting properly and keeping good time. Completely factory
original inside and out. Typical of the times, this was a very good
quality but moderately priced watch which has seen some use but was well
cared for. Still beautiful and very practical. Fitted with a dark brown
19mm padded leather strap. |

American Waltham
Large 18s Sterling Silver Engraved Hunter Cased Key Wind, Key set Pocket
Watch with Sterling Chain, Extra-Fine, c.1882 |
|
New Listing!
 |
What a beauty this old gentleman is and in remarkable
all original condition. Full sized 18s 55mm diameter solid sterling
silver hunter case with 4 hinges for cover, bezel, back and cuvette. All
hinges are in great condition with no damage or repairs. Beautiful
Victorian engraving with engine turned and floral pattern with cartouche
and a coin edge. Inside the back is still the original watch paper from
Waltham with a picture of the factory and certifying it's silver
content. Beautiful original white porcelain dial with no chips or
hairlines and original blued steel hands with no corrosion. Original
round bow is still tight and stem cover release works properly. Case
pops open and closed properly. Key wind from back and key set on hands.
Key setting is a little tricky but not a problem if you are careful, it
may need a better key though because it seems to fit correctly to wind
the watch but it seems perhaps a size too big for hands set. Powered by
the original Waltham Broadway movement that is crisp and clean, running
strong and keeping very good time. Comes with a solid sterling
silver graduated Albert chain with dog clip and t-bar and a very worn
1890 Seated Liberty U.S. dime fob. Just a great old watch from the Old
Wild West era. |
